How to prevent hair clogging your shower drains
Hair clogging shower drains can be a hairy problem!
Have you noticed your shower is turning more into a bath? If water is pooling when you shower your drain is likely getting blocked and therefore running more slowly than usual. Hair clogging shower drains is the number one culprit!
There are ways you can prevent hair clogging your drain, which will save you pulling your hair out with frustration!
- Put hair in the bin. If any hair comes loose in your fingers when washing your hair keep it in a pile and put it in the rubbish bin at the end of your shower. It is tempting to rinse the loose hair from your fingers but this will cause you more inconvenience than putting it in the bin will in the long run.
- Use a drain cover. There’s no way to avoid some hair going down the drain. Putting some mesh over your plughole or purchasing a drain cover if your plug suits will stop the hair reaching the drain pipe and allow you to conveniently throw the caught hair in the bin.
- Brush hair before showering. Especially if you have long luscious locks, rushing your hair before you shower will remove a lot of loose hairs that would otherwise come out when you wash it.
If you suspect your drains may be getting blocked and starting to run slowly then use an auger to dislodge and remove any hair that has made its way down your pipes.
By following the hair shower hacks above and regularly cleaning your shower drain, you can reduce build-ups of soap and grime which hair can get stuck in, ultimately reducing your risk of hair clogging your shower drain.
